Tue 21st Oct2003 : Your chance to talk to the purchasing power behind the MOD
On Thursday 20th November 2003 at 3-30pm Northern Defence Industries Limited, in association with REACT, The Regional Technology Centre, gave a presentation to highlight the opportunities for Yorkshire based SME’s who wish to develop business within the Defence and Aerospace Sector. Robin Fox, NDI's Business Development Manager in Yorkshire outlined how the organisation has helped its current membership generate over £1m of additional turnover in the last eighteen months. Along with over £100m in turnover, which NDI members who now form part of the SAAB BOFORS and LOCKHEED MARTIN supply chains have secured in the last few months.

Northern Defence Industries Ltd (NDI) is a strategic alliance of 170 companies based in the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber. It exists to enable the members to develop their business in the global defence and aerospace industry and provides supply chain solutions and lobbying on behalf of global Prime Contractors.

NDI provides assistance and advice to members considering tendering for military contract opportunities and regularly organises Industry Days at which Prime Contractors and IPT Leaders provide details of major defence sector contracts and how supply chains will be formed in support of these projects.

As well as Robin Fox, NDI's Business Development Manager, who outlined how to increase turnover through the MOD supply chain, the speakers included Mike Albans-Jackson of Broady Flow Control Limited, a member of the NDI and speaking as a case study of how the NDI has generated success. Mike was also previously with the Defence Logistics Organisation (DLO) and therefore he knows well how the MOD purchase their revenue items.

The event was at The REACT Centre in Rotherham and attendance was free including a finger buffet. For further information to discover how to supply the MOD, contact Geoff Armitage at REACT on 01709 313405 or e-mail g.armitage@react.org.uk.
